Samarpan Neupane
Turning
The evergreen pages of history
Underneath the chaos, I see –
A cackling image of Mussolini, I see –
Hitlers; quite a few,
Marching Gestapo,
Orders readied –
“The eternal end of humanity!”
Yes, sir,
There and then,
I fear us, men.
A light jog later,
I am overwhelmed with
The fragrant nature on her knees.
Forth –
Odors of bitumen and gunpowder,
A mob ready with
Yet another call of vigilance,
The yells of dogmas.
Yes, sir!
There and then,
I fear us, men.
Here, it seems,
Pigeons of peace have suffocated,
So have the songs of peace.
I am to be encircled with pest.
See!
They have hollowed
The stature of harmony.
Yes, sir!
There and then,
I fear us, men.
These reckoned palaces,
On life support,
Can’t hold up
The weight of humanity.
I fear –
How long can we hold our breath?
Against the fear,
I shall rise up,
So shall you.
Our voices shall rise high,
For a better world,
For a world of our dreams.
Else –
You are too destined to say –
“I f e a r us men.”
