Samabedanako Samayog, a collection of essay by critic and essayist Gyanu Adhikari was launched after a comprehensive deliberation on the book amidst a programme organised at Hotel Hardik in Kathmandu on Saturday. The event, in its first half, featured four novice commentators who expressed their readers’ response on the collection. In the second half, critics Dr. Ashok Thapa and Kumari Lama commented on the strengths and limitations of the work in their answer to the questions posed by moderator Raj Kumar Baniya. Those who presented their readers’ response were Sabitra Pandey Kafle, Anita Koirala, Saraswati Saras and Sudha Sharma. The commentators lauded the author for the eclecticism of her themes and the lucidity of her language. They especially complimented her for raising extremely sensitive gender issues and her appeal for gender equality.
Addressing the audience, essayist Adhikari said a writing criticism is often bound and limited by theoretical imperatives; so she picked us essays whenever she wanted to exercise her full freedom as a writer.
Adhikari is a noted critic. A university faculty by profession, she teaches at Padmakanya Campus, Tribhuvan University.
The book has been published by Shikha Publication.
