Growing Up at St. Mary’s: A Journey from Tears to Joy

Shristee Gautam

From entering the school’s green fate crying to not go to school to entering the school full of excitement and anticipation, we’ve witnessed our own transformation. The yellow buildings that greet us as we enter are more than just structures—they are a home away from home for us, Marians.

In the early days, those gates felt like the threshold to an unfamiliar world. The separation from our families, the new faces, and the unknown routines filled us with anxiety. Yet, as the days turned into months, and months into years, something remarkable happened. The once-daunting halls became familiar, the classrooms turned into spaces of laughter and learning, and those yellow walls, once imposing, began to embrace us with warmth.

St. Mary’s is more than just a school; it’s where we grew up, where our friendships blossomed, and where our dreams began to take shape. The lessons we’ve learned extend far beyond textbooks—they are lessons of life, of kindness, of resilience. Here, we’ve discovered our passions, faced our fears, and built the foundation of who we are today.

Each corner of this school holds memories that we cherish. From the first nervous introductions to the joyous celebrations of our achievements, St. Mary’s has been the backdrop to our journey of growing up. It has seen us at our best and our worst, and through it all, it has been a constant source of support and guidance.

As we continue to walk through those green gates, no longer with trepidation but with excitement, we carry with us the understanding that St. Mary’s is more than just a place of education. It is a place where we’ve found a second family, where we’ve learned the true meaning of community, and where we’ve grown into the individuals we are proud to be.

In the heart of those yellow buildings, we’ve found not just an institution, but a home—a place that will forever be a part of who we are.
