Four Litterateurs Awarded by Samthing Foundation

The Samthing Foundation has awarded four litterateurs along with cash prize. The foundation has awarded the Samathing Literary Award to litterateurs Mohan Duwal and Prof. Dr.  Govindaraj Bhattarai. Similarly, litterateurs Mina Rai and Shanta Gautam have been honoured with Samthing Shrastha Samman.

At the ceremony organized by the foundation, author and former Home Minister Dipak Prakash Banskota awarded Dr. Bhattarai and Duwal with a cash prize of 55,555 rupees each along with the Samthing Literary Award, and Rai and Gautam with a cash prize of NPR 5,555 each along with Samthing Srasta Samman.

The foundation has been awarding the Samthing Srasta Award and the Samathing Literary Award every two years. Due to the possible risks of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2078, the award distribution was not conducted. Prior to this, the foundation had presented awards and honors simultaneously for the years 2078 and 2080.

The award and prize distribution program also featured poetry recitations.

The foundation was established by  litterateur Tallinn Samthing who passed away at the age of 55 on Bhadra 30, 2079. Samthang had published 55 literary works during his lifetime and two of his works have been published posthumously. The Samathing Foundation, established by him while alive, is an institution dedicated to literature.
