Five Journalists to Receive Awards on Gorkhapatra’s 125th Anniversary

Five journalists have been selected for various journalism awards to be conferred on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the national daily Gorkhapatra and the 63rd anniversary of the Gorkhapatra Corporation. The Federation of Nepali Journalists, Gorkhapatra Chapter, has announced the names of the award recipients.

Journalist and literary figure Vijay Kumar Chalise has been selected for the Ramchandra–Indu Journalism Award 2082. He will be honored with a cash prize of NPR 500,000 and a certificate of appreciation. Born in 2008 BS (1951 AD), Chalise began his career at Gorkhapatra in 2037 BS and served in various roles, including Editor-in-Chief. He also held the position of Executive Chairman of the Corporation. The award recognizes his long-standing contribution to journalism.

Umesh Ojha, Editor of Yuwa Manch monthly, will be honored with the Gorkhapatra Journalism Award 2082. He will receive a cash prize of NPR 10,000 and a certificate.

Likewise, Binu Shrestha from The Rising Nepal and Sapana Thami from gorkhapatraonline.com will be awarded the Gorkhapatra Active Journalism Award 2082.

Bhesh Raj Belbase from Gorkhapatra Daily and Tirtha Raj Adhikari from the Proofreading Department will be honored with the Suman Bhomjan Memorial Journalism Award 2082. They will each receive NPR 5,555 in cash along with a certificate of appreciation.

The awards will be presented during the celebration ceremony of Gorkhapatra’s 125th anniversary and the 63rd anniversary of the Corporation. The awards are intended to encourage and recognize the contributions of journalists in the field of journalism.
