Dr. Ruit and Journalist Kishore Awarded

Karmayogi Badribikram Thapa Smriti Sewa Guthi, which has been active in the field of social service for the past 28 years, has awarded two individuals for their outstanding contributions to the society.

At a program organized on the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary of the late Badribikram Thapa held in Kathmandu on Friday, the Guthi awarded the “Badribikram Rastra Gurav Puraskar 2081” and “Sewa Puraskar Nepal 2081” to veteran ophthalmologist Dr. Sanduk Ruit and journalist and writer Chandra Kishore respectively.

Both the awards were handed over by Dr. Gauri Shankar Lal Das who had attended the vent as the chief guest.

Each awardee received a cash prize of 222,222 rupees.

Similarly, this year’s ‘Badrivikram Character Building Award’ was presented to Anup Dahal, a student of Hindu Vidyapeeth Thali. This award, established by Prof. Dr. Lokvikram Thapa, comes with a cash prize of 10,000 rupees.

On the same occasion, the Guthi’s advisor and Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari, presented the “Shram Samman” with a cash amount of 25,000 rupees to Ponmaya Maharjan.

At the program, Chief Guest Das expressed that he felt honored to be able to honor the distinguished personalities of society.

Minister Bhandari shared some of his memories of late Krishna Prasad Bhattarai (Kisunji).

Politician Navaraj Subedi, in his speech, remembered about his relationship with Badribikram Thapa and shared some memories.

On that occasion, the awardee Dr. Ruit, remembering Thapa, mentioned that he was not only a social worker but also a capable and good governor. Another awardee, journalist Chandra Kishore, stated that journalists should write about the laypeople’s issues.

Late Thapa, born in Sindhuli, spent many years working in social service and administration in Nepal. The Trust set up in his memory gives awards to people who have made notable contributions in social service, administration, education and other areas in the country.
