Dhurba Chandra Gautam to Receive National Writers Award 2082

Nepal Writers’ Association has announced that celebrated author Dhurba Chandra Gautam will be honored with the National Writers Award 2082, which carries a cash prize of 100,000 rupees. The award will be presented on Writers’ Day (Baisakh 16) during a special ceremony at the Siddhicharan Hall of Nepal Academy, starting at 1 PM. Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, will attend as the chief guest.

Writers’ Day commemorates a historical incident from the Rana era when writers and intellectuals were punished for attempting to establish a library — a pivotal moment for literary freedom in Nepal. The Association began formally observing the day from 2080 BS.
