This year’s ‘Dhadiraj Sudedi National language and Literature Award’ will be conferred on senior story writer Bhagirathi Shrestha, while senior journalist Dharmendra Jha will be presented with ‘Dhadiraj Subedi National Journalism Award’. Both the awards were decided by the foundation’s meeting chaired by president Bibek Pokhrel.
Presented every year by the foundation in literature and journalism stream, the awards carry a cash prize of 51000 and 25000 respectively.
The foundation decided to award litterateur Bhagirathi Shrestha recognizing her five-decade-long contribution to Nepali literature particularly in fiction writing. Similarly, journalist Dharmebdra Jha, who has been active in Nepali journalism since four decades, will be felicitated by the foundation in recognition of his contribution to Nepali journalism.
Earlier, litterateurs Prof. Dr. Govindaraj Bhattrai, Prof. Dr. Abhi Subedi, Prof. Dr. Madav Prasad Pokhrel. Dr. Bishnu Bibhu Ghimire, SP Koirala, Prof. Dr Chudamani Bandu and Satan Regmi were the recipients of the award for language and literature stream. While, those award receivers for journalism stream were Hari Bahadur Thapa, Shiva Bahadur Karki, Harihar Birahi, Mohan Bhandari, Kishwor Nepal, Bhusan Dahal and Ananta Raj Neupane.
The award will be distributed on 30th of Mangshir during a special ceremony that will take place in Biratnagar.
