A Photographic Exhibition titled ‘An Anthropologist’s Early Glimpses of Nepal (1960-1975)’ is set to take place at Patan Museum, Lalitpur, from September 26 to October 18. Jointly organized by Mémoires de l’Himalaya and Vajra Books in collaboration with Alliance Française, the exhibition will showcase the works of renowned anthropologist and photographer Corneille Jest.
The exhibit will feature approximately 95 photographs, both in black & white and color, along with a short film documenting Jest’s explorations of Nepal between 1960 and 1975. Divided into two main sections, the exhibition focuses on the Kathmandu Valley and the Dolpo region, highlighting themes Jest favored, such as daily life, craftsmanship, religious activities, architecture, and natural and urban landscapes.
To engage both local and international audiences, all panels and labels will be presented in both English and Nepali.
