Nepal Theater Institute Pokhara is set to launch its latest publication, “Nepali Natyavimarsha.” The book will be officially unveiled on September 22, 2024, at Nepal Academy by Nepal’s first president, Dr. Ram Varan Yadav.
The comprehensive work, edited by Prof. Dr. Ramchandra Pokharel, with Dr. Ashok Thapa, Puru Lamsal, and Sundar Manandhar as co-editors, is structured into 1000 pages and divided into four sections. It includes 32 articles in the first volume, 17 working papers in the second, and four plays in the third. In addition to documenting the evolution of Nepali drama, the book also covers theater activities in Indian regions such as Darjeeling, Sikkim, Calcutta, Assam, Dubars, and Siliguri.
Renowned critic Prof. Dr. Dayaram Shrestha has praised the book, describing it as Nepali Natyavedanta, Nepali NatyaGyankosh, or Nepali Natyasagar for its depth and insight.
Editor-in-Chief Dr. Pokharel expressed confidence that the publication will serve as a valuable resource for playwrights, actors, directors, theater researchers, and independent scholars.
Established in 2078, Nepal Theater Institute Pokhara aims to encompass all aspects of Nepali drama and theater through research.
