Creative Literary Forum (CLF) is screening the award winning feature length movie Mahanagar: One Night in Kathmandu on Thursday, October 12, at the Central Department of English, Tribhuvan University.
As per the notice issued by CLF, the movie will be screened in the room no. 108 of Ghadibhawan (Clock building) on Thursday at 2:30pm. The notice also cordially invites students, teachers including art and literary enthusiasts to attend the screening of the movie.
An interaction program will be an integral part of the movie screening which will feature question answer session with the writer and the director of the movie, reads the notice.
CLF coordinator Sudarshan Rajbhandari said that screening the movie Mahanagar at the university aims in showing appreciation to Nepali artists and provide space to Nepali art and literature. “As students of MA English, we are exposed to the entire history of the Western tradition but very little of our own gets the space in the curriculum. This is an attempt to challenge that.” he added.
Written and directed by Mohan Rai, the 70 minutes long movie ‘Mahanagar: One Night in Kathmandu’ narrates the struggle of a girl who has come to Kathmandu to fulfill her dreams. Above it, the theme of the movie dwells around the struggle of people who have come to Kathmandu from various places. Produced by Middleway Films in the year 2020 originally in Nepali language, the movie has travelled across the theaters around the world and has been nominated for various national and international awards.
Event organizer Creative Literary Forum (CLF) is a group of MA students at Central Department of English dedicated to perform various literary activities at the university.
