CID actor Dinesh Phadnis dies at 57

Popular Indian actor Dinesh Phadnis, best known for playing the role of Fredericks in CID, a popular Indian television series , died on Tuesday at the age of 57. He was on Ventilator support who had been suffering from extensive liver damage.

His CID co-actor Dayanand Shetty, who played Daya on the show, confirmed the news of his death who said, “Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am.” The 57 years old actor was receiving treatment at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital.

Actor Aditya Srivastava, who essayed the role of Inspector Abhijeet on the show, told PTI, “We know that he had liver issues and it had an impact on the other organs. He was really unwell for two-three days. He couldn’t survive.”

Earlier, it was reported that Dinesh suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday, following which he was admitted to the hospital. Later, Shetty confirmed it was not cardiac arrest but liver damage.

Dinesh became a household name after playing the role of Fredericks in the long-running TV show CID, which first aired in 1998 and ran for twenty years on Sony TV. He also made an appearance on the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and played supporting roles in movies like Super 30 and Sarfarosh.
