BukAnt Launches Salamander Imprints: A New Traditional Publishing Vertical

Poet Idol Finalist Pallawib’s Poetry Anthology Set for Release

Darjeeling: BukAnt, a prominent name in the publishing industry, has announced the launch of its new traditional publishing vertical, Salamander Imprints. This new imprint will focus on high-quality non-fiction, including rare classic works, academic and non-academic research, regional history, as well as select fiction and poetry. The initiative marks a significant milestone for BukAnt, known primarily for its self-publishing services.

Speaking on the launch, Raja Puniani, Director of BukAnt, shared, “Since our inception in 2022, we’ve dreamt of venturing into traditional publishing. Salamander Imprints will provide a platform for distinguished works from our region, helping them gain national exposure and amplifying voices that often struggle to reach the mainstream.”

Debut Project: Pallawib Rai’s Lati

Salamander Imprints’ debut project will be Lati, a Nepali poetry anthology by Poet Idol finalist and renowned filmmaker Pallawib Rai. The signing ceremony for the book took place at The Cord’s office, in the presence of literary and creative luminaries, including Dr. Satyadeep Chhetri, author of the bestseller novel Gorkhaland Diaries; Naresh K. Shahi, BukAnt consultant and translator; Rahul Sambhavi Sinha, Director of The Cord; and Anir Tamang, popular content developer and singer from Darjeeling, also known as Darjeelingey Kancha.

Expressing his gratitude, Pallawib Rai remarked, “I am beyond grateful to Salamander Imprints and their expert panel for believing in my work. This marks a special debut for both Salamander and me. Salamander Imprints will uphold the traditional publishing model, where the publisher invests in the publication and shares royalties with authors.”

Future Publications under Salamander Imprints

Salamander Imprints plans to publish rare and significant research-oriented non-fiction works in both English and Nepali, alongside carefully selected poetry and fiction. “Some rare books from our region, currently unavailable, as well as profound research works, are already in the pipeline,” shared Puniani. He assured that Salamander Imprints would operate parallel to BukAnt’s self-publishing ventures, catering to diverse reader needs without any disruption.

Pallawib Rai’s romantic poetry collection, Lati, is set to be released on Valentine’s Day, 14 February 2025. This much-anticipated release promises to be a poetic celebration of love and a fitting beginning for Salamander Imprints’ journey.
