Former vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University and former ambassador of Nepal to Japan Pro Kedar Bhakta Mathema has said that Bisheshwor Prasad Koirala would have never agreed with the highly commercialized education system of Nepal if he had been living so far. Speaking as a key note speaker on the final day of ‘BP Literature Festival 2080’, Prof Mathema shared his experience on the BP’s socialism in education and stated that BP Koirala was always in favor of public education.
“BP Koirala himself had studied in municipal school. And he believed that municipal or community education equalizes a society as it gives equal opportunities to all individuals and brings them to a common place.” Prof Mathema said. He further added, “The two kinds of education system of Nepal has resulted stratification and segregation in Nepali society and of this, BP would have definitely revolted”
Prof Mathema also stressed on public education and saw the need to build future citizenry through public education.
