A lifetime of legacy was celebrated with the book launch of ‘Life is (not) a Tale’, authored by Fr. Dr. Augustine Thomas, S.J., Principal of St. Xavier’s College, Maitighar.
The book was launched in conjunction with the college’s 36th Foundation Day and Tribhuvan University’s 65th Annual Anniversary. The book was jointly released by Fr. Amrit Rai S.J., Regional Superior of the Nepal Jesuit Society, Nirmal Krishna Shrestha, one of the college’s founding members, and former Miss Nepal, Sadichha Shrestha.
Reviewer Fr. James Amakatt S.J. noted that the book encourages readers to “Know Yourself” and be contemplative. Conceptualized in 2009, the book took over a decade to complete, compiling recollections of Fr. Augustine’s life and experiences.
Fr. Dr. Augustine Thomas, S.J., remarked, “Being involved in the holistic development of young people in college, I became part of their struggles, questions, and confusions about life, God, purpose, relationships, family, and more. As I listened to stories of people, I felt that people undergo similar struggles in their pursuit of a purposeful and harmonious life.”
Drawing from these experiences, he wrote ‘Life is (not) a Tale’ to highlight key aspects of life that matter in day-to-day existence and offer small steps to incorporate happiness into daily living.
Former Miss Nepal and college alumna, Sadichha Shrestha, reflected on her time as a student, praising the college for preparing her for a successful career and life.
