The library, established in memory of the late poet Bimal Gurung, who was born on Kartik 19, 2028 BS at King’s Park Hospital in Hong Kong, continues to honor his literary legacy. Despite living only 19 years and 6 months, Gurung developed a deep poetic consciousness shaped by Marxist aesthetics, Western literature, Indian philosophy, and social commitment. His poem Ek Kilo Jungle remains widely discussed. The library building was constructed by his parents, Bishnu Gurung and Saraswati Gurung, as a tribute to their son.
According to the organizing committee, the award ceremony for both the Bimal Gurung Kriti Puraskar and the poetry festival winners will be held on Kartik 24.
