Poet Bimal Gurung Memorial Library, Dharan has called for poems for the “National Poetry Festival” to be held on 19th Kartik to mark the 52nd birth anniversary of late poet Bimal Gurung. A press release issued by the Library has appealed interested poems to submit their Nepali poems via its official email bimala1234@gmail.com by the first week of Kartik.
The governing body of Library has also decided to confer Yuwa Prativa Samman to young poet Bishal Nalbo from Kalimpong of India on the same day.
Purna Bahadur Gurung, the President of Library said that the Nepali poets and litterateurs are supposed to send a copy of their poems before the first week of the month Kartik that is by the 24th of October 2023. The winner and the two consecutive runners up will be honoured with a cash prize of 21,000, 18,000 and 15,000 rupees respectively along with certificates. The press release also says the Library will confer Kabi Bimal Gurung Kriti Puruskar to a work published in 2079 and deemed worthy of the award by a panel of judges. The prize carries a sum of 2 lakh rupees and a citation.
Every year, the Library organizes a national level poetry competition to commemorate poet Gurung’s birthday on 19th Kartik. The library is located at Baudhachok, Dharan-18.
