Bhotoo Singh Chhetri’s debute book ‘Chakravyuhama Gorkha’ (Gorkhas trapped in Maze), a non-fiction book on Gorkhaland Revolution has been released at World Book Fair 2024, New Delhi. Published by Salbari based publication house BukAnt, the book was launched a during a tribal panel discussion organized by ‘Adivasi First Nations Book Akhara’ at World Book Fair Writer’s Forum, Hall-2, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 11 February 2024.
‘Chakravyuhama Gorkha’ addresses the issue of the Gorkhaland revolution, a political landmark of the Gorkhas, that has remained unresolved despite the loss of more than 1,200 martyrs and the disappearance of hundreds of hill dwellers in the past Gorkhaland revolution. Author Chhetri has detailed the account of political ups and downs of the hill peoples’ movement. Written in four volumes, the book systematically discusses the tilt of the Congress Indrajit Khullars and the BJP’s manipulation of central politics upon the Gorkha community to ensure continued Lok Sabha seats.
Speaking upon the book, director of BukAnt Suraj Gurung said, “The work has been logically strengthened by the rare documentation. The work has been verified by the description of the author’s own experiences during the agitation”.
‘Chakravyuhama Gorkha’ enlists the most reliable political documentation of the Gorkhaland revolution from the British era to the contemporary point of time. In this comprehensive book by Bhotoo Singh Chhetri, who has worked at the heart of hill politics, the author has brought forward for the readers the authentic fiction of the political history of the Gorkha community, which has fallen into the national political ‘maze’.
Born on 12 June 1952 in Darjeeling, Bhotoo Singh Chhetri is an active political personality of Darjeeling. As an intellectual associated with the Gorkhaland revolution since the early days of 1986, he is also an important Gorkhaland ‘intellectual-activist’ in Darjeeling. Author Chettri’s political articles on various issues regarding Gorkhaland could be read in Sunachari Samachar, Sunakhari Samachar and other newspapers. He is a founding member of Gorkha National Liberation Front, Gorkha Liberation Front and Darjeeling Civil Society. He has served Darjeeling Municipality from 1976 to 2012. ‘Chakravyuhma Gorkha’ is his first book.
