Writer and journalist Shreesh Bhandari’s young adult novel Akathit has been published. The novel portrays the obstacles and challenges that bullying can cause in the personality development of teenagers, delivering its message through a compelling storyline.
With the growing use of technology, acts like sending unsolicited messages, obscene words, pictures, or videos, and harassing through similar language on social media have increased. These actions fall under cyberbullying, and Bhandari’s Akathit addresses this aspect of bullying in a conscious, awareness-raising manner.
The main character, Sarthak, is shy and lacks self-confidence, which Viraj and a group of his troublemaker friends exploit to relentlessly bully him. Although classmates are aware of this bullying, they are unable to stand up against it. Teachers and parents, focused solely on academics, fail to notice the issue altogether.
Eternal Publications states that author Bhandari has written this novel as a valuable resource for all school-aged teenagers.
Published by Eternal Publications, the book is priced at 275 rupees.
