Belbase’s Poetry Collection ‘Chot Haruko Utsav’ Launched in Kathmandu

Poet and journalist Thakur Belbase’s poetry collection Chot Haruko Utsav has been launched in Kathmandu at an event organized by Sunkoshi Literary Foundation.

The book was jointly unveiled by poet Tulsi Diwas, writer-politician Shanta Manavi, and singer Ani Choying Drolma.

At the event, poet Diwas remarked, “Wounds make us truly human. Many great works are born from pain, and Belbase’s poems reflect that tradition. Tears often speak deeper than laughter.”

Ani Choying Drolma likened the poems to the taste of honey, saying, “It’s like tasting honey without being able to explain it. Belbase has beautifully crafted poems from his lived experiences. They bring joy to hear.”

Similarly, Political analyst Shankar Tiwari noted, “Belbase’s poems are not just meditations on love—they are also mediations and even interventions. They are intellectually rich, with deep reflections on love and life.”

Belbase shared that through his poems, he tried to express not only his own pain but the shared human experience of suffering: “I may not have earned much money, but I’ve built meaningful relationships. That’s what matters.”

The event also featured poetry recitations from the collection by poets Bishwo Sigdel, Mani Lohani, Sojho Gaule, Hem Prabhas, and Shobha Adhikari. Belbase was honored with a certificate of appreciation by the foundation’s chair, Chhabiraman Silwal.

The program was hosted by General Secretary Pradeep Sapkota and began with a welcome speech by Purna Bahadur Shrestha Hridayankrit. The book is published by Sunkoshi Literary Foundation.
