Banira Foundation Honours Lohani, Tuladhar and Shrestha

Banira Foundation has honoured literary figures Prof. Pushkar Lohani, Anita Tuladhar, and artist Madan Das Shrestha with different awards in Kathmandu.

Engineer Shankar Giri, the founder and patron of Banira Foundation, presented the ‘Banira Pragya Award 2080’ to Prof. Pushkar Lohani for his significant contributions to Nepali literature spanning seven decades.

At the ceremony, Engineer Giri also awarded the ‘Banira Shankar Award’ to senior artist Madan Das Shrestha for his continuous dedication to Nepali theater and filmmaking over the past ten years, contributing significantly to the development of theatrical art. Both awards carry a purse of 1,00,000 rupees each.

Additionally, poet and story writer Anita Tuladhar was presented with the ‘Banira Award’ along with a cash prize of 50,000 rupees for her remarkable contributions to the advancement of Nepali literature.

The award was established in honor of the late poet and novelist Dr. Vanira Giri, who passed away on May 24, 2021, due to complications from COVID-19.

The ceremony, presided over by Indira Prasai, featured speeches from the awardees Prof. Pushkar Lohani, Madan Das Shrestha, Anita Tuladhar, and founder Shankar Giri, the program coordinator Bhagwati Basnet, and the Foundation’s secretary Narendra Raj Prasai.
