Bangladesh Embassy Hosts Art Camp in Kathmandu

The Embassy of Bangladesh hosted a daylong art camp centered around the theme ‘From Mountains to the Delta’ in Kathmandu on Monday. This event was a part of a weeklong art festival organized by the Embassy in collaboration with the Art Bangla Foundation Dhaka and Siddhartha Art Gallery. Notable artists from Bangladesh and Nepal participated the art camp.

During the opening ceremony, Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury emphasized the deep-rooted social, cultural, and civilizational ties between Bangladesh and Nepal, likening them to natural streams flowing from mountains to the ocean. He stressed the shared vision of preserving socio-cultural identities and values, aligning with the festival’s theme of showcasing diverse landscapes and cultural values.

Ambassador Chowdhury also expressed hope that the art camp would serve as a platform for contemporary Bangladeshi and Nepali artists to create and display artworks reflecting the cultural richness of both countries.

Coinciding with the art camp was a musical event organized by the Embassy to celebrate the Nepali and Bengali New Year. The artworks created by ten prominent artists will be exhibited at Siddhartha Art Gallery in Kathmandu from May 7th to May 10th, 2024.
