Bakhat Bahadur Shahi’s ‘Bhya’ Launched, Highlighting Karnali’s Culture

Bhya, a social novel based on the religion and culture of Karnali by writer Bakhat Bahadur Shahi, was launched during a literary event in Kathmandu. The book was jointly unveiled by former Chief Minister of Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, Member of Parliament Rita Shahi, Pratima Gautam, and critics Rajkumar Baniya, Shankar Tiwari, and Suman Barsha, among others.

While launching Bhya, former chief minister Jeevan Shahi described the novel as a historical work that captures the true essence of Karnali.

Critic Rajkumar Baniya commented that the novel helps readers understand the society of Humla and Karnali, much like non-fiction does, through authentic representation.

Similarly, critic Suman Barsha mentioned that the novel portrays the reality of women in Karnali, reflecting both positive and negative aspects of their lives.

Author Bakhat Bahadur Shahi emphasized that the old religion, traditions, and culture have always served as moral guides for society, asserting that the people of Karnali are more virtuous than others.
