Autumn

Arjun Ghimire

With the onset of autumn, joy and excitement dance in the breeze,
Rain bids adieu, leaving roads pristine, in hues of green and ease.
The river, once swollen, gracefully shrinks in the light,
A new, enduring glow graces the vast canvas of the sky so bright.

Beneath the caresses of the fair white clouds, greenery comes alive,
Intoxicated, I bask in the sun, where autumn dreams arrive.
Birds flock in the open blue sky, their wings singing a song,
Spring’s young ones learn stealth, hunting, and frolic along.

Shy falls flow down silently even from heights so steep,
The white marsh beckons, its secrets it does keep.
Aquatic beings dive and babble in distant streams,
Terrestrial creatures mate, their hearts afloat on dreams.

Could we capture the moon’s silken light in a noose?
Houses, palaces, and harvests glow in red and white hues.
The scents, the breezes, moonlight, and the stars above,
Free to revel, in the empty blue sky they rove.

Autumn’s proof, during Dashain, victory’s sign does gleam,
Tihar dispels autumn’s darkness in its radiant beam.
Lhosar welcomes a new year, warm and bright,
Hey, lash! come on, love, ablaze and let`s celebrate in this autumn’s light.
