Author Suman Barsha Launches ‘Abhyantar’

Author Suman Barsha has released a new collection of short stories titled Abhyantar.

The anthology was jointly made public by prominent figures including writers Prof. Dr. Abhi Subedi, Gyanu Pandey, Nayanraj Pandey, professors Jagat Timilsina and Binod Chandra Panta, along with publisher Pushparaj Poudel, during a literary gathering in the capital on Thursday.

Prof. Subedi praised Barsha’s storytelling, noting its originality and exploration of new themes. “Though they may appear simple at first glance,” Dr. Subedi remarked, “she writes from varied perspectives and styles, showcasing remarkable authorial freedom.” He also observed that Barsha’s writing reflects influences from Western storytelling.

Dr. Gyanu Pandey emphasized that Barsha’s stories effectively portray societal realities, addressing important issues. “Writers are the psychotherapists of society,” she said, “they reveal its inner wounds through literature and show paths for healing.”

Nayanraj Pandey shared his reflections on the collection, highlighting the diversity of themes and styles in Barsha’s work. “Barsha is a bold storyteller who seamlessly weaves together various subjects and narratives,” he noted.

The event, organized by Shikha Books, also featured comments from other speakers, including Jagat Timilsina, Binod Chandra Pant, Dr. Somika Basnet, and Ranjana Niraula, who shared their thoughts on the book.

Suman Barsha spoke about the inspirations behind the stories in Abhyantar, which contains 18 tales covering a wide range of themes, from social anomalies and science fiction to environmental issues and robotic stories. The book, published by Shikha Books, is priced at Rs. 450.

Barsha, an English literature teacher, had previously authored two novels before releasing this story collection.
