Author and journalist Sridhar Khanal ‘Dirghabahu’ has passed away at the age of 94. He breathed his last at 2:45 a.m. on Thursday. Khanal published his first novel, Shabdabhedi Ladai, in 2022 BS (1965 AD). He was renowned for his popular detective novels, including Murkatta Las, Chha Aule Manche, Panko Gulam, Doctor Demon, Major Ko Sarpa, Bikhalu Ikshyapatra, Barha Bajeko Ghanti, Venuska Hippiharu, and Nangeki Sundari.
In addition, his works such as Hongkongko Byapari, Helambuki Apsara, Gulafi Pin, and Bajra Joginiko Khajana were also published. Recognized as Nepal’s first detective novelist, Khanal was a lifelong founding member of the Nepal Eye Hospital. He also served as a member of Tribhuvan University’s Academic Assembly for two terms.
