Diwakar Sapkota
You—
A stranger once,
A stranger again.
You entered my life,
Left memories behind,
Then vanished—
Like a passing dream.
Yesterday,
When all was right with you,
I was worthy in your eyes.
Today,
As tides have turned,
I stand condemned as vile.
For the one
I always cherished,
The one I sought to honor—
In the end,
I am guilty
Not by my deeds,
But in your eyes.
Alas, it was my fault,
For I failed to see—
Comparing your love
To a mother’s was folly.
We shared moments,
Brief but bright.
But now,
As the night grows deep,
Memories echo,
Loud and steep.
Yet still, I wish—
If the stars allowed,
I’d fill your life
With brighter days.
If winds could turn,
I’d wipe away
The failures in your life.
If fate were kind,
I would buy endless time—
Just to be with you.
