Kainla and Amatya Honoured with ‘Shambhu-Nirmala Bisista Sadak Samman’

The ‘Shambhu-Nirmala Bisista Sadak Samman’ for the year 2081 has been awarded to senior poet and former Chancellor of the Nepal Academy Bairagi Kainla for literature and to senior singer Ishwar Amatya for music.

The awards were presented to the honored personalities during a ceremony held to mark the fourth annual memorial day of the late creator and senior singer Shambhu Kumar Milan at the Department of Information, Sanchargram. The event  was inaugurated by chief guest and former Chancellor of the Nepal Academy, Ganga Prasad Uprety, who paid tribute to late artist Milan by garlanding his portrait and lighting a traditional lamp.

Distinguished guest and keynote speaker, Prof. Jagat Prasad Upadhyaya, shed light on the works, biographies, and contributions of the honored personalities.

Event’s chairperson Devi Nepal remarked that it was a matter of pride to honor literary figure Bairagi Kaila, who identified and brought Shambhu Kumar Milan to the Nepal Academy.

The society’s vice-chairperson, Tika Bhandari, recited Milan’s famous ghazal, “Patharko Mutu Banai Timi Antai Sarepachi”, while the honored musical figure Ishwar Amatya performed “Rittiyechan Nayan Mera.”

Other speakers included Dr. Bishnu Vibhu Ghimire, Milan’s son Shailesh Regmi, and the society’s treasurer, Srijana Regmi.

Patron of the society, Nirmala Regmi, expressed her gratitude to the awardees for enhancing the society’s stature by accepting the honor and pledged her full commitment to advancing its mission.

The event was graced by distinguished guests such as Prof. Dinesh Raj Pant, Sulochana Manandhar, Prof. Dr. Ram Prasad Gyawali, Prof. Dr. Bhagwat Dhakal, Prof. Mohan Sitaula, Dr. Ghanshyam Khatriwada, Prof. Thakur Sharma, Prateek Dhakal, Bagmati Province MP Hon. Sunil KC, Shrihari Phuyal, Radheshyam Lekali, Sandhya Pahadi, Suren Uprety, Dr. Tank Prasad Barakoti, Bharat Jung Uprety, Ratna Nidhi Regmi, Geeta Karki, Alok Chalise, and other literary figures.
