52 stories have been longlisted in the preliminary round of the ‘Sixth Baahrakhari Story Writing Competition – 2081.’ The selection was performed by an Barakhari’s internal selection committee from the submissions received this year.
According to Baahrakhari, the shortlisted story writers include Anita Neupane, Bhumika Tharu, Bishnu Paduka, Dhruva Adhikari, Dikshit K.C., Durga Dhenga, Mahendra Mahak, Narad Thapaliya, Raju Miya, Sudeep Chapagain, Tulsi Giri, Anita Koirala, Anupam Roshi, Apsana Chaulagain, and Arunprasad Chaudhary.
Additionally, the selection features stories by Basanta Bayung Rai, Vivek Dhimal, Bimala Tiwari, Bishal Babu Basnet, Devendra Khapung, Dr. Himalal Shrestha, Hark Bahadur Lamgade, Ilaya Pathak, Jeet Bahadur Katuwal, Karmasahi Gharti Magar, Kedarnath Jha, Lalita Doshi, Mirmama, Pawan Oli, Praveen Yamphu, Radhika Kalpit, Samarpan Shree, Purna Bahadur Limbu, Sanjay Panthi, Sapana Adhikari, Sharda Stefi, Seema Haider, Sushna Timilsina, Toyam, Chet Nath Acharya, Anita Panthi, Baikuntha Dhakal, Divya Giri, Kanti Neupane, Madhur Bhattarai, Matrika Subedi, Prameya Bhandari, Yashoda Adhikari, Bhagwat Khanal, Tikaram Pokharel, Sanjay Sah Mitra, and Ramesh Jung Thapa.
From the 52 shortlisted stories, a primary jury led by Prof. Dr. Gyanu Pandey and comprising literary figures Dr. Geeta Tripathi and Dhirendra Premarshi will select the top 25 stories.
As in previous years, the top three stories will be awarded cash prizes of 100,000 rupees, 60,000 rupees, and 40,000 rupees respectively, along with certificates.
Baahrakhari has also announced that a book featuring the final 25 selected stories will be published, with each of the remaining 22 authors receiving NPR 5,000 as a token of appreciation.
The competition’s results will be revealed in a special ceremony in Kathmandu in the second week of Mangsir 2081, during which the anthology ‘Baahrakhari Utkrista Katha 2081′ will also be launched.
