23 books shortlisted for Yashaswi Book Awards-2081

Yashaswi Pragya Pratisthan has shortlisted 23 books for the Yashaswi Book Award 2081 across three genres: poetry, fiction, and non-fiction.

In a press statement issued by Ranjana Niraula, Chairperson of the Pratisthan and Director of Kathmandu Kalinga Literature Festival, the shortlists were made public based on the recommendations of the jury. The Pratisthan had invited submissions of books published within the year 2080 B.S. for consideration.

In the poetry genre, five books have been shortlisted:

  • Lahana Ra Teer by Avaya Shrestha
  • Bagi Stri Ko Atmakatha by Sumina
  • Ashwat Thamako Nidharbata Bagmati Bagchha by Devbrat
  • Pahirobhitrako Gham by Sushila Khadka Hasina
  • Mahakash by Muna Dhital Aryal

The fiction genre has nine shortlisted books:

  • Antar by Ramesh Sayan
  • Bhrikuti by Govinda Prasad Kusum
  • Pipala by Bimal Nepal
  • Charaibeti by Jivan Jivanta
  • Amrikane Kasi by Sarala Gautam
  • Laar by Muna Chaudhary
  • Khokpa by D.R.
  • Bora by Akhanda Bhandary
  • Ishwarko Anuhar by Dibya Giry

For non-fiction, nine books have been shortlisted:

  • Galli Sansar by Roshan Sherchan
  • Nuntel by Jivan Chhetri
  • Bhuktaman by Dhirendra Sinal
  • Bakpatra by Narendra Jung Piter
  • Sanskriti Chintan by Arun Gupto
  • Mukam Ranamaidan by Mohan Mainali
  • Sambedanako Samayog by Gyanu Adhikary
  • Prasnaharu Ta Baki Nai Rahanchhan by Momila

The Pratisthan will present the awards in five genres, with the shortlists for the translation literature and history/research genres yet to be announced.

The awards will be presented to the authors on Bhadra 22 (September 7, 2024) during the 3rd Kathmandu Kalling Literature Festival, scheduled to be held on September 7 and 8.

The annual Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF), one of the leading international literary festivals from India, is held annually in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Since 2022, Yashaswi Pragya Pratisthan has been hosting the Kathmandu edition.

According to the statement, the 3rd Kathmandu Kalinga Literature Festival will feature over 400 authors from Nepal, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
